20th June 2010 Whiteway Barton Race Report
South West Motocross Club continued it’s season with a visit to the classic Whiteway Barton venue,The track has undergone major changes in recent months, now running in the reverse direction and with some superbly constructed jumps thrown in.
The sun was beating down on the venue but constant track watering helped keep the dust to acceptable levels.
Amx Open rider Wayne Shimmell won all the races but had some one new chasing him! After 13 years away from the dirt ,Superbike star James Buckingham had a one off ride in preperation for the Beach race and raced to 3rd overall with two seconds and a sixth.Aaron Austin’s two 3rds and a second was enough to secure 2nd overall. Jasper Flashman 4th and Jon Tarr 5th .
The autos run a very short version of the circuit due to the severity of the hills, Tyler Rowe was the maximum man chased all the way by the battling duo of Louie Kessell and Ryan Mundell .Morgan Timms picked up the pace to grab 4th from Jordan Hayman and Jason Down.
Junior riders had to tackle the whole track, with its steep bumpy climbs and descents. Alfie Crocker could have scored a maximum and the overall but had to settle for runner up spot to Aiden Williams after falling in race 1.Henry Bees and Callum Jago were close on points and beat the unfortunate Jordan Allen on the day after Jordan took a nasty tumble down the steep hill in race 3.Matt Treen clinched 2nd in the last race and 6th overall.
Maximum Points were scored by Cornwall’s Dean Symons in the small wheel group although Luke Oldfield pushed him hard on his CRF for a great 2nd overall. Brendon Cooper’s confidence grows week on week, 2nd in race 2 and 3rd overall. Suzuki mounted Jack Roberts had the better of Dan Mundell, whilst Callum Hawkins was consistant in 6th.
