HONITON 04/07/2010 RACE REPORT
South West Motocross Club held round 7 of it’s summer championship on the natural hillside track near Honiton .
Each group were treated to a extended practise session to help cut up the grass that had re grown since February.
The Juniors were headed every time from the gate to the flag by Aiden Williams, Callum Jago had a great day grabbing second overall from white and pink KTM ridden by Lucy Calvert who battled hard with Todd Sawyer and Henry Bees. Consistant riding gave Kawasaki mounted Harry Day a top six finish.
The little automatics had a shortend track which resulted in some fantastic racing.
Louie Kessell won all his races, Jordan Hayman achieved second overall and second in race 1,but if newcomer Jason Down hadn’t dnf’d it might have been different !
Morgan Timms had the better of Archie Bees on the day but the hard riding award would go to 5th finisher Harvey James. Cody Berry tied on points with Connor Jago in 6th and 7th positions.
Dean Symons trip up from Cornwall was worthwhile as he romped away at the front in dominent style every time.Dan Mundell was trying fourstroke power for the first time and was twice 2nd , beaten in race 3 by the Improving Brendon Cooper and fourth finisher, Bristols Luke Oldfield on his Crf. Clayton Coaker and George Rowson were next home.
The Big Wheel races were as competative as ever with 3 different riders in the top positions each outing. Race 1 winner Connor Palmer was the only 2 stroke amongst the 4 strokes. Harry Hart had a 3,2,1 and overall honours, second finisher Jordan Hembrow must have kicked himself after falling in race 1 and the chance of 2 wins . Jamie Buckingham ended up 4th overall from Josh Beer and Cole Baker Edwards.
The Senior Group threw up some fantastic racing amongst overall winner young Jack Stevens gaining two race wins, Ayrton Gordon out for the first time on a new Honda and taking his first ever win and Aaron Jenkins on the Suzuki. Rocky Lethaby had a couple of 4th place finishes ahead of Josh Taylor and Simon Gill.
Visiting Open rider Sam Chapman was never headed although Tom Brown chased all day. Ben Braddick kept his big Honda ahead on points of the chasing trio of 250 kwacks, Gareth Bunby and Nick Lee tying ,Cameron Packer 6th .
Next meeting is a 2 day charity meeting at Crediton on the 17th/ 18th July with club champs on Sunday.
