Wrangaton 2nd club champs Race Report 28.03.2010

South West Motocross Club continued its 2010 club championships with a meeting at the Wrangaton track Near South Brent in Devon.

The track ,brown and ribbonlike laid out over the steep hills in a natural valley .

Out First to race were the automatics , The long smooth start straight showed just how fast you can go with no gears, Holeshot man Ryan Mundell quickly stamped his authority on the race and was never in any danger of being passed. Young Louie Kessell next with Archie Bees following. Race 2 was a similar affair but the trio of Jordan Hayman, Harvey Jones and Morgan Timms swopped their finishing positions. All 12 Autos did really well to master this adult track.

Junior Racers Aiden Williams and visitor Harry Pritchard took a win each, Harry having the better of Aiden in race 2,and no matter how he tried Aiden just couldn’t close the gap. Jack Booker and Henry Bees shared the third place finishes as did Matt Treen and Dan Roberts the forth and sixth positions.

Cousin to Ryan ,North Devon lad Dan Mundell showed the pack a clean pair of heels right from the start in the SmallWheel 85 group. He never looked back to see the battling duo of four stroke mounted Luke Oldfield and Brendan Cooper on the Ktm in either race ! Cornwalls Joe Eiffert ripped his Suzuki around in style in front of Ben Gibbons and George Rowson. There was a break for half and hour whilst Charlie Stevens who had a nasty fall had medical attention.

32 big wheel riders squeezed onto the shorterned track and were led in the dry first race by Maverick Smith and Olly jones on a borrowed bike. Visitor Johnny Farleigh edged out Connor palmer from the top three.

2 laps in to race two the red flag came out and by the time of the restart it had started raining it was now very wet and slippery , different riders all took their turns at the front and on the ground ! It looked as if Maverick was on for the double win until the last lap where Daniel Gibbons took over and grabbed the win

National senior Competitor Harry Sellwood had 2 easy wins ,1 dry and 1 wet, Ben Butler found some form to finish next with second and fourth finishes.Ayrton Gordon and Josh Taylor tied on points, Ayrton with a great third in race 1 .Aaron Jenkins second in race 1 couldn’t be matched in the wet with a 13th to drop his overall position.

Amx riders Wayne Shimmel and Ryan Blee followed home the fast Daniel Wyatt. Only 14 of the 37 riders finished race 2 Garath Bunby ,Richard Grills and Aaron Austin bagged some points in the difficult wet conditions.

Once again with rain falling the club enlisted the help of a tractor and 4x4 digger to ensure everyone got away home with minimum fuss.
